So how did Jesus preach to souls in Hades if He reassured the dying thief they were heading to Paradise ? Yet Jesus asked Mary on ressurection morning not to delay Him as He had not ascended to Heaven ?

Most seem satisfied with how shallow much of Christianity has stopped at. It's so simple for some. Some are hungry for something more. Christianity is not just a "happy meal". There is more if you dig deeper. Richard Rohr has looked hard at the more. Some many of the simplistic thinking are threatened by the deeper. This is happening in large numbers today. Careful deep questioning is frightening to their simplistic thinking and beliefs. FEAR motivates their fanaticism.

"The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world" therefore, Christ's death and resurrection is eternal. God's redemptive act was there from the beginning because, we, having been predestined "before the foundation" to be made in the image of God, are forever growing and learning in Him. God's grace and redemption is not only a static one time event, but also an eternal act forever working in all lives, regardless of belief or creed.

I sincerely hope anyone reading this might really think about these words, which are not just my private opinion (like Origen's or Gregory of Nyssa's "theolugomeni" regarding "apokatstasis" etc) but the classical balanced Orthodox view: for surely we shouldn't feel free to take words like "Perichoresis" and quote the Fathers who coined such words and developed our corporate understanding of the nature of the Trinity, when we (Kruger, Young, Crowder and co.) feel completely at liberty to reinterpret what the Church is and what the Gospel is? ... An Orthodox friend of mine once said that 'Protestantism is like a constant "exchange of ideas" as almost opposed to a life of therapeutic participation in the Sacramental life of the Church' (getting on with it within the beauty of the tradition). Although people might consider themselves "post Protestant", it's quite clear to see that in these kind of talks and meetings, this is exactly what's going on... we're ever trying to find a "new way" of thinking about the ancient Gospel which was "once for all handed down to the Saints?" I'm very glad that such folks are drawing from the deep wells of Eastern Orthodoxy; and there is much beautiful truth in what they are saying, but these ancient Christian philosophers, theologians and leaders were not in some amorphous, vacuous,"pure inspiration" free flow movement of some invisible Community, but they were very much part of the Church that Christ inaugurated and which formulated the Creeds and the theology of the Ecumenical Councils... and that was (and still is) in the continuous stream of the mindset of the Apostolic and post-Apostolic, ante-Nicene tradition. Though there is clearly a multitude of private beliefs about certain things which differ among the Fathers, this patristic consensus is very clear on certain things regarding the nature of God and man and the degree of our freedom or inability; the nature of Christ's incarnation, his death and what we ought to do with the sin we still find in our lives. All I'm pointing out is that what certain teachers sometimes say is at odds with the balanced consensus which is full of beauty and balance and and which works! And not about some enemy "religion" or "religious spirit". For example, the Orthodox (though not Orthodox myself mind) would clearly teach - as opposed to that which a hyper grace believer might think regarding sin and the sinner - that "sin"- being an abstraction, is a privation of the good. It has no being / substance. Sin is demonically inspired and energised thoughts and actions that WE - as PERSONS - entertain and commit. So when God "hates sin or the sinful / wicked" in the word, His dissatisfaction is surely towards people - both individual and corporate - not merely an abstraction: which is why the Father (as the above teachers would agree) was not hating or pouring wrath out upon the Son on the cross; for then the Father would have to be pretending to be angry at the Son Who had not sinned. No, God was receiving and absorbing all the injustice and hatred and disease of our race in order to provide the way out within Himself: to heal us and to rightfully disarm the enemy. But God's judgement / penalty of sin, the "wages" of it, is death (both passively consequential and purposefully ordained due to a very real displeasure that God "feels" towards evil - both demonic and human) We ascribe love and compassion to the Deity, so why struggle to accept wrath or hate / anger as having at least some correlation with what we understand by those words: the words that the Spirit Himself inspired) Yes wrath party denotes "mortality" and the effect of His Presence upon the ignorant soul; but His wrath is to be revealed "against the godlessness and wickedness of men"... and so Christ, by entering into the place of condemnation and death in order to destroy it, becomes the Ark of our salvation: Salvation Himself, that we might escape the real wrath to come... where we might "go down with the demonic ship" so to speak. Punishment is a reality; that's why it is "the chastisement / punishment that was upon Him, that bought us peace". This doesn't mean (as it often does in the West) that God the Father is pouring wrath out upon the Son. No, again, His human soul was separated from his human body.: He "tasted death". This, along with His loving, yet torturous identification with us and the sense of abandonment, was the punishment... but all within the union of that human soul and a human body with the Divine Word. Christ takes on the penalty of our collective death - as He Who had assumed and deified our nature - in order to raise it up within Himself... in order to heal that which is predisposed to sin and death. But our personal salvation / adoption / regeneration is not merely "realised" and "perceived", because, as Christ the Word did not assume a human person - but a human nature - we as persons who actualise nature are "potentially" recipients of that which He restored within Himself. This means that we (the Church) were "chosen in Him before the foundation of the world". Of course We were all in His Mind upon the tree: you and me (unless Open Theism is true and you are only truly known from conception alone), and of course we are all in Christ Who upholds all reality: from Whom, to Whom and through Whom all things are, and in Whom we live move and have our being... but reconciliation is about being "relationally" reconciled, and a real ontological change in time and space - in us - as we receive Eternal Life as we are, by Baptismal grace, immersed - into Him. He, as the Second Adam, made the Way for us, having purchased full redemption before the Father, before Reality. But we "believe" and "receive" (John 1) as individual persons; we actualize that restored nature... "and if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ"... "and He breathed on them, and said, "receive the Holy Spirit" As unique Hypostasis - we come into that Triune Life... "Partakers of the Divine nature" (the risen humanity in the God- Man in the Spirit)... or not. For in the Greek Fathers, and in the Christology, Anthropology and Soteriology of the Ecumenical Councils of the first millennium, there is a clear, subtle, yet real and vital distinction between nature and person; and also a real freedom and synergy that is maintained: therefore, both Augustinian determinism and universalism are seen as two sides of the same erroneous coin) Grace and Peace X

Thank God for Richard Rohr! He has helped many of my (Fearful) catholic friends understand the true meaning. You know the "truth" when you hear it! You will not find Peace until you have removed the nails from the hands of God's Son, and taken the last thorn from His forehead. The Love of God surrounds His Son whom the god of crucifixion condems. Teach not that I died in vain. Teach rather that I did not die by demonstrating that I live in You. Fear hurts and Love heals ♥️
